Each finished print embodies the look and feeling of a style of painting. Currently, we offer our artwork in three different styles: Impasto Oil, Oil Pastel, and Enhanced Oil—each of which has its own distinct characteristics:
Impasto Oil:
an oil or acrylic painting with thickly laid paint. In this bold and very expressive style of painting, individual brush strokes are often clearly visible, and the total effect is of a heavily textured, highly nuanced and vivid rendering of the subject.Oil Pastel:
a painting and drawing medium with characteristics similar to pastels and wax crayons. Unlike "soft" or "French" pastel sticks, oil pastels consist of pigment mixed with a non-drying oil and wax binder. The surface of an oil pastel painting is evenly laid and minimally textured with softer curves and lines, resulting in a warm, tender rendering of the subject.Enhanced Oil:
an oil painting in which the effect of traditional techniques is apparent. This means that the paint is evenly laid, though moderately textured (brush strokes minimally evident,) so as to create an evenness of tone and color with sharp curves and lines, resulting in a cooler, crisper rendering of the subject.
These painting techniques are frequently combined to produce mixed effects. Artist Win Joy utilizes years of training and experience to apply the right technique to the right subject or area in order to unlock the essential mood or tone within the original photo. These techniques also afford the artist a full range of expression in selecting, combining and emphasizing various details while softening, de-emphasizing or simply “painting out” others. Hampton Village Arts continues to develop and expand our range of painting styles, printing techniques, and technical skill to offer more options for your finished artwork.
