Frequently Asked Questions
What if my photograph is old, discolored or damaged?
Every image is carefully prepared for the step by step translation into paints, which features color correction and image interpolation to remove hairline cracks, areas of abrasion, etc. Artist Win Joy will discuss any limitation that arises from quality, color or composition of the photograph, and he will suggest possibilities in addressing such limitations. This process of photo-preparation is included in the cost of your commission.
How much will it cost to start the process?
The process begins with a Free Artist Consultation—and it really is free! During your consultation with the artist, your specific project will be quoted based on your individual needs. Hampton Village Arts asks that a minimum deposit of one-half of the total quoted price be remitted before work begins.
How long is the artist consultation?
The Free Artist Consultation is often less than twenty minutes, but artist Win Joy will take as long as you need to explain what you want. A clear understanding of your expectations greatly improves the finished product.
Do you have flat rates for certain sizes and styles?
To keep your costs at a minimum, every job is quoted individually depending on the particular factors involved in each project. We don't like flat rates because, though they sometimes prove to be a bargain for a few, they are too often based on estimates in time and materials that may not be necessary to complete your individual project. Hampton Village Arts will only charge you for the actual work we do for you.
When can I expect the finished artwork?
Two to four weeks depending on the level of process required to meet your expectations for the finished piece--often sooner; but I’d also add a little wiggle-room for time of photo prep, and seasonal orders (like Christmas).
What if I don't like my finished artwork?
At Hampton Village Arts, customer satisfaction is our first and highest priority. At every step of the process, your goals and expectations are reviewed and thoughtfully brought to bear on the project. If, however, you are dissatisfied with the result, further alterations and accommodations can be made without changing the final cost to you. Hampton Village Arts wants to please you, and we will do all we can to see you are happy with our service.
Do frames and matting come with the artwork?
Do to all the many different styles, colors, sizes, and personal preference, frames are not included. We at Hampton Village Arts believe that frames and matting are an individuals choice to compliment the decor in which they will be hung.
